St. Peter’s take the upper hand over Gurukula Kelaniya

The U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament featured two games today (20th December) at different venues across the island. 

St. Peter’s College secured an easy first-innings win against Gurukula College, thanks to the exceptional bowling performance of Joshua Sebastian, who took 4 wickets for just 17 runs. Dilana Damsara and Tharin Senvidu supported Joshua well, each claiming 2 wickets. For Gurukula’s first innings, only Poorna Kalhara managed to score more than 20 runs. 

In reply, St. Peter’s College reached 152/6 by the end of the day one, with Dilana Damsara scoring 40 runs and Joshua Sebastian contributing 31 runs. Thathsara Eshan was the standout bowler for Gurukula, taking 3 wickets for just 37 runs. 

In another game, Tissa Central College was bowled out in their first innings for just 84 runs against St. Sebastian’s Central College. Nadun Asela De Silva scored 37 runs, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Vihanga Theekshana claimed 3 wickets for only 20 runs. 

Maheesha Sithum scored a valuable half-century for St. Sebastian’s Central College. For Tissa Central, Tharuka Saminjith and Malindu Dilshan took 4 wickets each.
