The U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament featured three games today (18th December) at different venues across the island.
The game between Devapathiraja College, Rathgama, and St. Aloysius College, Galle ended in a draw, with Devapathiraja College leading in the first innings. Puljith Wathsuka played brilliantly, scoring 63 runs in the first innings. Chamindu Padmika also performed well in the second innings, scoring 42 runs off 123 balls. For St. Aloysius College, Prabash Nirwan and Dulsath Nimviru each claimed 3 wickets.

In response, Devapathiraja College managed only 179 runs before losing all their wickets. Charya Paranawithana scored 67 runs, including six fours, while Kavindu Kesara contributed 54 runs. Sandaru Malshan took 4 wickets for 65 runs, and Gimhan Rasanjana claimed 3 wickets for just 35 runs against St. Aloysius College.

In another game, skipper Yoshitha Isuranga Udahakotuwa delivered a brilliant knock against Wesley College, scoring an unbeaten 83 runs with 7 fours and 1 six. For St. Sylvester’s College, Dinuja Samararathne put on a superb bowling performance, claiming 6 wickets for just 32 runs.
In response, Wesley College posted 50/4, with Lithum Senuja scoring 17 runs. Prabhagaran Ishan took two wickets.

In the match between Moratu Maha Vidyalaya and Ananda College, Ananda College secured a first-innings victory, thanks to Kithma Withanapathirana’s brilliant all-round performance. He took 4 wickets for just 14 runs and scored 49 runs, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Ashinsa Nainayake also contributed by taking 3 wickets against Moratu Maha Vidyalaya.
