Five games in the U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament 2024/25 were played across the island with most of the games ending in tame draws.
The game between Tissa Central College, Kalutara and Mahinda College, Galle ended in a draw where Tissa central college were saved by the jaws of defeat by their batters. Tissa Central being bowled out for 74 runs in the 1st innings displayed a rearguard action in the second innings by holding onto their wickets. Mahinda College with a healthy first innings lead couldn’t pounce on it due to Tissa College’s resilient batting display.
In another game over today, Thurstan College beat Ananda College in their 1st innings. Thurstan College won by 99 runs
The match between Nalanda College and Royal College was drawn. Nalanda College, Colombo won the 1st innings
Skipper Poorna Kalhara got a brilliant knock against Maris Stella College, Negombo. With his 120 runs, Gurukula College Created a massive score of 342/9d and easily recorded a 1st innings victory.
Anuka Wijewardhane’s superb bowling performance restricted St. Benedict’s College to just 131 runs in their 1st innings.
