Three games in the U19 Division I schools cricket tournament was played today (11th December) across the island.
The game between St. Anthony’s College, Kandy and Richmond College, Galle ended in a draw, with St. Anthony’s College won by 94 runs on the 1st innings. Charuka Ekanayake displayed a brilliant all-rounding performance in this match and he scoring 92 runs in the 1st innings and taking 2 wickets.
Richmond College, in reply, struggled to gain momentum against a relentless St. Anthony’s bowling unit. Despite a valiant century by Nikil Jayaweera. He Scored 111 runs with 12 fours and 2 sixes. Kevan Ramika was the wrecker-in-chief, claiming 6 wickets for just 25 runs.

In another game today, St. Joseph’s College claimed a first-innings victory over St. Servatius College in a low-scoring thriller. St. Servatius College, after being bowled out for 108 runs, was led by Vishwa Supun, who scored 28 runs, and Raveen Kavintha, who scored 27 runs. However, they struggled against the brilliant bowling of W.Y. Dewthusa, who claimed 4 wickets for just 18 runs, and Dihen Kithmin De Silva, who took 3 for 32.
In response, St. Joseph’s College posted 155/6, with Aveesha Samash scoring 49 runs, supported by Senuja Wakunugoda, who scored 34 runs, and Dunick Perera, who remained unbeaten on 31*. Despite Praveen Madusanka’s 3 wickets for 39 runs and Viran Chamuditha’s 2 for 37, St. Joseph’s College managed to secure the lead.
In another game, skipper Sanjana Senavirathna delivered a brilliant knock against Moratu Maha Vidyalaya, scoring 62 runs with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Nishitha Fernando also put in a superb bowling performance, claiming 5 wickets for just 38 runs.
