St. Aloysius’ College, Galle registered a thrilling win (DLS) over Devapathiraja College, Rathgama in the final of U19 Inter-Schools Division 1 Tier ‘B’ Limited Overs Tournament played today (2nd April) at Surrey Village Grounds, Maggona.
Having been asked to bat first, St. Aloysius’ College posted 211 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 50 overs with Oshada Devinda and Sasindu Madusara making the top contributions with the bat.

At one stage, St. Aloysius’ batters were stuttering at 108/6, but Devinda and Madusara rescued the innings putting on an unbeaten century stand for the 7th wicket.
Devinda stroked 78 runs off 109 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes while Madusara hit 53 runs off 58 balls with 4 fours and a six. Pinsara Duthanga was the pick of the bowlers for Devapathiraja College as he dismissed 3 scalps for 36 runs.

In reply, Devapathiraja College made 106 runs for 4 wickets before heavens opened up to bring down the curtains on the game. The boys from Rathgama were 8 runs short of the DLS target at the time, thus St. Aloysius’ College were declared as winners of this contest.
