First semi-final in the U19 Division I tier ‘B’ schools cricket tournament commenced today at Nalanda College Grounds Colombo.
Lumbini College,batting first suffered an early setback as they were bundled out for a paltry 74 runs, courtesy of the superb bowling display by Thurstan College’s medium pacer Yovun Silpa. Yovun ended up with figures of 6 wickets for 33 runs, leaving the Lumbini batsmen struggling to find their footing.

However, Thurstan College’s joy was short-lived as they faced a stern challenge from the Lumbini bowlers in their innings. Thurstan managed to post a modest total of 117 runs before being bowled out. Ushan Sathsara and Sahan Kaushalya claimed 4 wickets apiece, keeping the game finely balanced as both teams headed into day two.

The game will resume tomorrow for day 2 with Lumbini college at 57 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. The Lumbini batters will come up with a positive approach to make a game out if it.
