Malith claims third 10-wicket haul

Dharmaraja College, Kandy registered a convincing win over St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa in their traditional encounter of the U19 Division 1 Inter-Schools Two Day Tournament 2023/24 which worked off yesterday (24th January) at Dharmaraja College Grounds.

A collective bowling effort and half-centuries from Irush Jayawardhana and Lakvin Abeysinghe helped Dharmaraja College record this dominant win against St. Joseph Vaz College.

Prince of Wales’ College managed to claim first innings points against Trinity College in their Tier A encounter worked off at Mattegoda. However, Malith Rathnayake in the opposite camp (Trinity College) stole the limelight, picking up a match of 11 wickets. This was Rathnayake’s third 10-wicket haul in this season

Ananda College took major honors in the drawn traditional encounter against Mahinda College played at Galle. Kaveesha Mendis stood up with the bat, scoring a brilliant century for Ananda College in their first innings. Ashinsa Nainayake was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he scalped 5 wickets for 24 runs to restrict the hosts for just 131 runs in their first innings.

The traditional encounter between St. Anthony’s College and Thurstan College also ended in a draw at Katugastota. Thurstna spinner Thanuga Palihawadana’s brilliant bowling performance was the highlight of the match as he picked a match bag of 11 wickets for 139 runs.
