Two games in the U19 Division I schools cricket tournament ended today, with Richmond College, Galle and Thurstan College, Colombo securing their spots in the semi-finals.
Richmond College, Galle cruised through to the semi-finals by winning the 1st innings comprehensively against Nalanda College, Colombo at Kirimandala Mawatha. A superb bowling display from the Richmond College bowlers paved the way for their batters to express themselves. Richmond batters got together to post a mammoth 325 to the scoreboard. Chehan Subasinghe and Sharon Abishek Starred with the bat for the boys from Galle.

Thurstan College, Colombo escaped an outright defeat after securing the 1st innings lead on day 1 against Mahinda College. Thurstan College’s Thanuga Palihawada starred in the 2nd innings with a 5 wicket haul. Senuk Dangamuwa, being the lone warrior for Mahinda, grabbed 11 wickets for the match went in vain, with the day’s play coming to a close for day 2 at Thurstan College being 8 down with 14 runs more to score.
