Lumbini College recorded a convincing win over Zahira College to notch up their third consecutive outright win in the U19 Division 1 Tier B Inter-Schools Two Day Tournament 2023/24 today (17th January) at BRC Grounds.

Praveen Maneesha, who starred with both bat and ball, stole the limelight in Lumbini’s impressive win. Maneesha stroked a vital half-century with the bat while picking up 5 wickets with the ball for the victorious Lumbini side.

Meanwhile, Dimath Abeysinghe’s brilliant bowling display helped Maliyadeva College record a comfortable win over Mahinda College. Abeysinghe picked up 5 wickets for 36 runs in the first innings while grabbing 4 wickets for 29 runs in the second innings, taking his match tally to 9 wickets for 65 runs.

Ananda College suffered an outright defeat at the hands of St. Anthony’s College, Kandy, in their traditional encounter worked off today at St. Anthony’s College Grounds.

After posting 255 runs on the board courtesy of half-centuries from Bimash Vidudaya and Janith Rathnasiri, St. Anthony’s College knocked over Ananda’s batting lineup for 104 and 158 in the first and second innings, respectively.

Kaveesha Piyumal was the starting performer with the ball for the hosts as he bagged 7 wickets for 91 runs. This was Ananda College’s second outright defeat this month, as they lost to Lumbini College in a previous encounter.
