Five games in the U19 Division I schools cricket tournament ended today, with Dharmaraja College, Kandy, recording the only outright win of the day. While these games concluded, St. Aloysius’ College versus Holy Cross College game began the proceedings today at Weeraketiya.
The day’s highlight was Maliyadeva College Kurunegala skipper Gayana Weerasinghe smashing a brilliant century against Gurukula College, Kelaniya. Even with his brilliant display with the bat, Devans could only be satisfied with the first-inning points.

Dharmaraja College, Kandy, displayed remarkable prowess against the high-flying St. Anthony’s College, Wattala, as they triumphed over them by an innings and 6 runs in their Division 1 Tier B encounter. Despite their best efforts, the Anthonians faltered in both innings against the precise and formidable bowling attack of the Rajans.
Nalanda College, Colombo opening Batsman Sadew Samarasinghe managed to reach the 1000 run mark for this season in the game against St. Joseph’s College, Colombo. His batting powers guided the Maroon outfit for a 1st innings win in the all-important game played at the Nalanda College grounds.

Inuka Karannagoda inspired Mahanama College, Colombo, to a win in the 1st innings with his brilliant bowling display against De Mazenod College, Kandana. Two counterpunching innings by Duvindu Ranatunga and Gimantha Dissanayake saw the Mahanamians gain the 1st innings points rather comprehensively.
