Dinidu Sasmith’s 5-wicket haul made headlines on Day 2 as the Tier A 2-day encounter between De Mazenod College and St. Anne’s College was drawn today, where only 28.5 overs were possible due to rain.
This morning, St. Anne’s College resumed their 1st innings at 80/2, but were eventually bowled out for 131 in 65 overs, courtesy of a brilliant fightback by De Mazenod bowlers, led by Dinidu Sasmith’s 5/27.
Apart from him, Kavindu Kaushalya bowled 28 overs to scalp 3 wickets for 40 runs. Overnight batsman Vageesha Ranasinghe went on to score 43 runs, while another 5 batters were dismissed without troubling the scores. No.9 batter Geethika De Silva contributed well with the bat, scoring a useful 30 runs.
Due to bad weather conditions, De Mazenod College was not able to commence their 1st innings before the match ended in a draw.
