Trinity College, Kandy secured a 114-run win over St. Thomas’ College, Matara, in the U19 Schools Division I Cricket Tournament 2023/24 while the Tier B clash between Isipathana College, Colombo and Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya, has been called off due to consistent rain.
In a Tier A encounter, the Trinitians posted a total of 204/8 against Matara Thomians after batting first for 40 overs, which were reduced due to rain. After losing 2/43, Supun Waduge and Janith Ravishka revived the innings by putting on a 114-run partnership. During this period, Waduge scored 74 runs from 89 deliveries, making him the top scorer.

The opponent’s skipper, Navija De Seram, provided the breakthrough, and once again, the Trinity side lost wickets at regular intervals. Ravishka was the only other batter to succeed, scoring 67 off 73 balls. On the other hand, Bhanuka Insamal and Kansilu Gimhana shared four wickets between them.
St. Thomas’ College got off to a horrible start, losing 4/11 in the chase. It got even worse for them when they lost another two wickets, reducing them to 6/43. In the end, they managed to score only 90 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allocated 40 overs, handing a commanding win to the Trinitians.
