Lumbini College, Colombo qualified to the final of U19 Division 1 Tier B Inter-Schools Limited Overs Tournament 2023/24 as they beat Ananda College, Colombo by 48 runs in the Semi-Final encounter played today (17th November) at Nalanda College Grounds, Colombo.
Ananda College’s skipper Iruth Gimshan won the toss and invited Lumbini College to take the first lease of the wicket.
Lumbini College posted 188 runs on the board as their in-form batter Nabeel Rajudeen stroked a valuable knock of 47 runs off 48 balls. Isuru Ayesh was the pick of the bowlers for Ananda College as he grabbed 4 wickets for 32 runs.
In reply, Ananda College were knocked over for just 140 runs despite a fighting half-century from Kithma Sithmal. Ushan Sathsara was the standout performer with the ball for victorious Lumbini College as he grabbed 3 wickets for 14 runs.
Lumbini College reached the final of U19 Limited Overs Tournament for the first time in more than two decades. Last time they reached the final of the tournament was during the 1999/2000 season when they were emerged joint-champions under the captaincy of Sandun Senanayake.
