Three Quarter-Final encounters of U19 Division 1 Inter-Schools Limited Overs Tournament 2023/24 were played today (11th November) at Colombo and Mount Lavinia.
Royal College, Colombo registered a thrilling 2-wicket win over S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia in the Division 1 Tier A Quarter-Final encounter played today at St. Peter’s College Grounds, Colombo.
Due to the wet outfield, the match officials decided to reduce to the game to a 47-over affair. Royal College won the toss and invited S. Thomas’ College to take the first lease of the wicket. The decision turned out to be accurate as they managed to restrict the Thomians to 142/8.

Akash Fernando stroked a fighting half-century for S. Thomas’ College while Anush Polonowita starred with the ball taking 3 wickets for 4 runs.
In reply, the Royal College batters also struggled with the bat, but they managed to cross over the line in the 40th over with 2 wickets in hand. Polonowita who impressed with the ball earlier in the day, showed his all-round skills, scoring a match wining half-century.
Kanchana de Livera and Isuru Weerasooriya guided Ananda College, Colombo to a comfortable win over St. Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya in the Division 1 Tier B Quarter-Final encounter played today at S. Thomas’ College Grounds, Mount Lavinia.
Due to the wet outfield, the match was reduced to a 43-over contest. After been asked to bat first Ananda College posted 208 runs on the board courtesy of De Livera’s fighting half-century.
The opening batter De Livera made 68 runs off 55 balls with 9 fours and a six. In reply, St. Sebastian’s College posted only 116 runs as Weerasooriya ripped through their batting lineup, picking up 4 wickets for 14 runs.
Lumbini College, Colombo defeated St. Aloysius’ College, Galle by 7 wickets in the Division 1 Tier B Quarter-Final encounter played today at Ananda College Grounds, Colombo.

Having won the toss, the boys from Galle opted to bat first, but faltered with the bat to be bowled out for just 123 runs. Charya Paranawithana scored a fighting 74-run knock for St. Aloysius’ College. Praveen Maneesha was the pick of the bowlers for Lumbini College as he picked up 3 wickets for 30 runs.
Lumbini College cruised to the target with ease thanks to the well-compiled half-century made by the Skipper Sahan Kaushalya. He hit an unbeaten 76 runs off 108 balls with 9 fours and a six.
