Nalanda College trounced Dharmasoka College by 3 wickets in their Singer-cup division one limited over quarter finals which concluded today at Surrey Village grounds.

After winning the toss Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda decided to take first lease of the wicket. Right handed bat Ravindu Rashantha started the onslaught from the top for the Sokians with a blistering half century as the lower order chipped in with some handy contributions to get the Dharmasoka lads to a respectable total.

They were in a spot of bother at 171/6 as wicket keeper bat Kavisha Kumara’s breezy innings of 63 carried the Sokians to 246 all out as they fell one delivery short of their allocated quota.

Malinga Amarasinghe and Lakshitha Rasanjana capped 3 wickets a piece as they led the attack for the Maroons. Malinga’s pace along with Lakshitha’s crafty right arm spinners managed to unsettle the Sokian momentum despite a late surge to a competitive total.

Chasing a victory target of 247 in 50 overs, the Nalandians started off in a commanding fashion as they were 81 for 2 in 10 overs and managed to reach the target in 42.1 overs. Skipper Dasun Senevirathne made a brisk half ton and he was ably supported by stylish middle order bat Suhanga Wijewardena who made a classy half-ton to guide the Maroons to the semi-finals with a comfortable 3 wicket win.
