Gurukula College, Kelaniya overcame President’s College, Kotte by an innings & 7 runs in their Singer U19 Division 1 traditional match which ended today at Prison grounds in Mahara.
After opting to bat first, the home team declared their innings on 240 for 9 with senior batsman Lachindu Arosha top scoring with 84 while Kavindu Perera and Pramuka Gayashan bagged 3 wickets each for the visitors. Lads from Kotte struggled in their 1st innings as they were bundled out for 95.
Praveen Nimesh picked up 5 wickets and was ably supported by Malindu Viduranga who chipped in with a 4-wicket haul to destroy the visitors. President’s College was forced to follow-on and they once again struggled on the matting surface as they managed only 138 runs.
Gurukula College, Kelaniya – 240/9 declared in 75 overs: Lachindu Arosh 84, Sevura Nayanatharu 42, Udara Ravindu 39, Roshan Malith 22*, Kavinda Perera 3/48, Pramuka Gayshan 3/53, Mohomad Rifaz 2/42.

Ananda College vs Mahanama College
Sri Lanka ‘A’ and youth-cap Sammu Ashan and left-handed opening batsman Sahan Suraweera made fifties for Ananda College as they went pass 200 in their Singer U19 Division 1 group B game against Mahanama College which started today at Bloomfield grounds.
Ananda skipper Kavishka Anjula won the toss and elected to bat and they were bowled out for a modest 218 in 58 over. Ashan and Suraweera made valuable fifties for the boys from Maradana, while Ashan Piyumal and Mahela Desilva bagged 2 wickets each for the hosts.
In reply, Mahanama College were 124 for 3 wickets at stumps on day one. Skipper Malindu Maduranga remained unbeaten on 44 while left-armer Ashel Sigera grabbed a couple of wickets.
The match will be continued tomorrow for second day’s play.
