The matches from Day 2 of the U17 Sri Lanka Youth League 2023, organized by Sri Lanka Cricket, were played today (22), with Colombo South and Colombo North teams registering wins.
In the Colombo South vs Dambulla match which took place at SSC grounds in Colombo, Colombo South secured a close victory by 10 runs. Duranka Silva scored 41 runs as Colombo South were bowled out for 147 in 40.1 overs. On the other hand, Geethika De Silva was amongst the wickets for Dambulla, bagging 4 wickets.
When Dambulla needed only 35 runs with 5 wickets in hand, Ranuka Malaviarachchi stuck to his plans perfectly, making a late twist. He took the last 5 wickets of Team Dambulla within 24 runs, which handed the victory for Colombo South. Budhima Sahan, who was the highest scorer of Dambulla innings, scored 45 runs.
In the other match of the day, Team Kandy won the toss and asked Colombo North to bat first. However, they only managed to get 138 runs all out inside 41 overs. Saminda Maduranga and Thanuga Palihawadana scored 28 and 24 respectively as their top scorers. On the bowling front, Dasun Welianga produced an excellent spell to pick 4 wickets, while Jayavi Liyangama also scalped 3 wickets.
In reply, Team Kandy lost their first 4 wickets for just 38 runs. With that terrible start, they never really recovered, bundling out for 121 in 39.2 overs. The Colombo North bowlers, including Yenula Dewthusa and Dulnith Sigera, were brilliant with the ball which gave them a thrilling 17-run victory.

Kandy – 121 (39.2): Lakwin Abeysinghe 25, Yenula Devtusa 2/08, Dulnith Sigera 2/12
Result: Colombo North won by 17 runs.
In the opening day of the tournament yesterday (21st), Colombo North defeated Colombo South comprehensively by 8 wickets, while Team Kandy sealed a massive 108-run win over Team Galle.
