Royal College, Colombo and St. Peter’s College have qualified for the final of the U15 Division 2 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament 2023.
In the first semi-final encounter, Royal College defeated St. Aloysius’ College, Ratnapura, on first innings points to book their place in the tournament’s final.
Batting first, Royal College posted 169 runs for 8 wickets before declaring their innings in the 49th over. Janiru Weerarathne and Javeeth Perera, who made 38 and 30, respectively were the chief contributors with the bat for Royal College.

Sasindu Dilakshitha was the pick of the bowlers for St. Aloysius’ College as he claimed 4 scalps for 40 runs. In reply, the boys from Ratnapura were bowled out for just 104 runs, handing the first-innings advantage to Royal College.
Sandul Abeywardena was brilliant with the ball for Royal College as he bagged 4 wickets for 26 runs, while Dhisas Nanayakkarawasam and Mudith Gunasekara also contributed well, taking 2 wickets each.
St. Peter’s College defeated Wadduwa Central College on first innings points in the second semi-final to book their place in the tournament’s final.
Having won the toss, St. Peter’s College opted to bat first and posted 150 runs for 9 wickets before declaring the innings. Thisath Jayasundara (30), Renish Anthony (25) and Mickhaeel Faleel (25) chipped in with crucial knocks to guide their side to a competitive first innings total.
Sadew Nimsara and Pansilu Rashmitha impressed with the ball picking up 2 wickets each for Wadduwa Central College.

In reply, the boys from Wadduwa posted only 113 runs handing the first-innings advantage to St. Peter’s College. Lesan Perera produced an impressive bowling performance, scalping 3 wickets for 29 runs for the victorious St. Peter’s College.
The final of the tournament will be played between Royal College and St. Peter’s College on the 14th August at D.S Senanayake College Grounds, Colombo.
