The final sixteen stage of the under 15 all-island division one cricket tournament 2015 commenced recently with four pre-quarter games being worked out around Colombo suburbs.
Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, Isipathana College, Colombo, Richmond College, Galle and St. Anthony’s College, Wattala booked their place in the quarter-finals with wins over Royal College, Panadura, De Mazenod College, Kandana, Kalutara Vidyalaya and St. Benedict’s College respectively.
Prince of Wales College vs Royal College, Panadura
Cambrians inspired by Fahad Faiz and Ravin Peiris convincingly defeated Royalists from Panadura by 6 wickets at Moratuwa.
The visitors batting first were restricted to only 168 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. Spinner Ravin Peiris was economical taking 4 wickets for 14 runs bowling his full quota of 10 overs. Dushan Madusanka top-scored with 46 runs.
The hosts’ chased down the target with ease in the 45th over. Right-handed Farwad Faeed made an unbeaten 41 while Sachin Sathsara chipped in with 36 runs.
Royal College, Panadura – 168/8 in 50 overs: Dushan Madushanka 46, Shehan Dilshan 37, Dilan Sudaraka 22, Ravin Peiris 4/14, Ravindu Jayasinghe 2/19.

Isipathana College vs De Mazenod College
Dilsara Saminda and Nethmin twins helped Isipathana claim a 60-run victory over De Mazenod in their pre-quarter final encounter played at St. John’s Grounds in Panadura.
Middle-order batsman Dilsara Saminda slammed a stunning 84 to lead their innings to a commendable 281. Nevishka Rodrigo picked up 4 wickets for the College from Kandana.
Chasing a stiff target of 282, De Mazenod youngsters were bowled out for just 221. Nethmin twins, Isira and Dineth shared 7 wickets to rattle the visitors. Isira was the best among the two taking a five-wicket haul. Nadun Dilshan stroked a valiant 54.
Isipathana College – 281 all out in 49.3 overs: Dilsara Saminda 84, Thuwan Kalid 46, Leshan Amarasinghe 23, Nevishka Rodrigo 4/58.
De Mazenod College – 221 all out in 45.3 overs: Nadun Dilshan 54, Romal Fernando 42, Chamod Dananjaya 36, Isira Nethmin 5/14, Dineth Nethmin 2/38.
Richmond College vs Kaluatara Vidyalaya
Ravishka Wijesiri’s brilliant bowling performance assisted Richmond College in beating Kaluatara Vidyalaya by 89 runs at Balapitiya.
The boys from Galle had to work hard for their runs as the boys from Kaluatara bowled tight lines to restrict them only to 186 for 9 in this 47-over match. Tavisha Abishek and Vinuja Kiriella scored 38 and 30 runs respectively.
Insaka Maduwinda was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets for Kalutara Vidyalaya and he returned with the bat to score 22 runs but his team mates were completely annihilated by Ravishka Wijesiri’s excellent bowling spell of 5 for 19 as they were rattled for just 97 runs.
Richmond College – 186/9 in 47 overs: Tavisha Abishek 38, Vinuja Kiriella 30, Adithya Siriwardena 29, Insaka Maduwinda 3/35, Avishka Lakshan 2/35.
Kaluthara Vidyalaya – 97 all out in 34 overs: Insaka Maduwinda 22, Ravishka Wijesiri 5/19, Vinuja Kiriella 2/21.
St. Benedict’s College vs St. Anthony’s College, Wattala
The fancied Benedictines were humbled by the gritty boys from St. Anthony’s College, Wattala as they registered an easy 6-wicket win at Kotahena.
After opting to bat first, the hosts’ were bowled out for 118 within 30 overs. Sachith Thushara stroked a fighting 47. Supun Jayasanka was the chief-destroyer taking 5 wickets.
Chasing a modest target of 119, the visitors reached the winning mark in the 33rd over. Kanishka Dereniyagala led the way scoring a fluent 47 runs.
St. Benedict’s College – 118 all out in 29.3 overs: Sachith Thushara 47, Supun Jayasanka 5/24, Shenal Shanuka 2/00.
