U23 Cricket – Thikshila and Tilaksha smash blistering tons

Colts, Colombo CC, NCC and SSC remained unbeaten in the Under 23 Division 1 tournament following a three-match winning streak while Baduraliya, Saracens, Panadura SC and Old Thurstanites registered first win in the tournament. Ragama managed an enormous win over Kurunegala while Air Force, Army and Kaluthara all register wins in the 12 Twenty 20 games played around Sri Lanka.


NCC vs Navy SC

Lahiru Udara managed a brilliant 93 as he guided NCC to a remarkable 77 run win over Navy SC. Batting first NCC managed 168 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply Navy managed just 91 runs as they were bowled out in 16.5 overs. Thimira Jayasinghe (2/03), Aravinda Akurugoda (2/14), Ravindu Thilakarathne (2/16), Lasith Ambuldeniya (2/18) and Sandun Sampath (2/25) ran through the delicate Navy line up.

Badureliya overcame stiff competition from Galle CC winning by 19 runs in the game played at NCC grounds. Batting first Badureliya, steered by Sachin Hewawasam (27) and Milan Abeysekara (25) managed 134 for 9 in 20 overs. Chathura Lakshan’s unbeaten 46 was not enough to bring Galle CC home as they fell 19 runs short of Badureliya’s target.

Air Force managed a nail biting 1 run win over Moors, played at SSC. Batting first Air Force scored 114 for 7 in 20 overs. Lahiru Kumara top scored with 40 runs. Chasing the below par 115 target Moors fell agonizingly short as they were bowled out for 113 in 20 overs.

Batting first Ports Authority scored a below par 127 for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Colts chased down the target with one ball remaining as they reached their target with 4 wickets in hand.
