Trinity to be led by Shiek in the new season

One of the front-runners in Sri Lanka school’s rugby, the lions from the hill-country, Trinity College have appointed Awishka Shiek as their captain for the new season of 2018.

Shiek the 4th year coloursman has been carrying a long-term knee injury, however despite being out of play for most of the last season, Shiek has been given the leadership responsibility and will be looking to stamp his authority on the field of play with the added responsibility on his shoulders. He was also one of the junior players who toured with the national junior tuskers during the year.

Trinity’s co-vice captains will be Mohammed Ikram and Naveen Rajaratnam. Ikram in his third year in the school jersey will be playing at the flanker position. Rajaratnam, the 4th year player, will most likely occupy the number 12 jersey with captain Shiek playing as utility back either at wing or full back. Known for his aggression in the three-quarters, Rajaratnam will be expected to play a mature role this time as Trinity College looks to make progress towards the league title.
