Trinity College registered a 58-run victory over St. Anthony’s College in their 38th annual One Day encounter which was worked off today at the Asgiriya Grounds in Kandy on Saturday.

Right arm off spinner Abishek Anandakumar from Trinity College single-handedly won them the match as he picked up a 6-wicket haul for just 23 runs.
Earlier today, the Trinity College skipper won the toss and chose to bat first with the hope of putting a big score on the board on a batting friendly surface. Even though the openers got off to a solid start, a middle order collapse saw them restricted to 188 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Ashan Lokukatiya (35), Chanuka Kumarasinghe (31) and Kavishka Senadeera (20) top scored with the bat for the hosts. The Antonian spinner Nimnaka Jayathilaka, who impressed with the ball in the two-day encounter between the two sides, was the pick of the bowlers again for St. Anthony’s College as he picked up 4 wickets for 29 runs.
Chasing a modest total of 189 runs to win, the Antonians were never in it as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 130 runs in 37.2 overs. Off-spinner Abishek Anandakumar was brilliant with the ball for Trinity College as he grabbed 6 scalps for just 23 runs.
