Trinity College Dominates Science College with a Convincing 36-0 Victory

In a thrilling display of rugby prowess, Trinity College overpowered Science College with a resounding 36-0 victory in their Week 7 Clash of the Dialog Schools Rugby League 2024. The match, marked by a series of well-executed tries and precise conversions, showcased Trinity’s dominance on the field. 

The game’s momentum shifted firmly in Trinity’s favor as early as the 20th minute. Skipper Anuhas Kodithuwakku initiated the scoring with a deftly executed try, setting Trinity ahead 5-0. Just before halftime, Yasiru Ariyawansa crossed the try line for Trinity’s second score. Althaf’s conversion extended their lead to 12-0.

Upon resumption, Trinity’s attacking prowess continued. In the 40th minute, speedster Udisha Rathnayake sped through the Science College defense to secure the third try, again converted by Althaf, pushing the score to 19-0. 

The second half saw Trinity’s forwards assert their dominance. Dehan Watagoda scored first in the 56th minute and again in the 65th minute Manusha Silva went over the whitewash, each try further solidifying Trinity’s lead to 29-0. 

In a final display of tactical brilliance, Shan Althaf intercepted a pass from Science College’s own 22-meter line in the 70th minute, sprinting to score the final try of the match. This last-minute effort capped Trinity’s 36-0 victory securing a bonus point win as well for the lads from the Hill Capital.  

The standout performer of the match was Yewan Hulangamuwa, who earned the NDB Player of the Match accolade for his exceptional work rate in the back line and superb distribution. His efforts were instrumental in orchestrating Trinity’s dominant performance.
