“Trinity College has more than 100 years of rugby history, being one of the first schools to play rugby along with the Bradby Shield. It is a rich history between the two along with Royal College that we also sponsor.
NDB are committed to the country’s success and customers’ success. We thought that we should get involved in sport as it is one of the key elements that bring up the country”
Over the years, the scope of the schools rugby has seen drastic changes resulting in lucrative budgets at schools. The partnership between NDB and Trinity will aid the side financially for the season as they prepare for greater things this year.
Acting Principal of Trinity College, Dr. Nalin Wikramanayake added that it is important for Trinity in their capacity to assist the less fortunate schools as well from the sponsorships that they receive.
“What we as a school will want to achieve from this partnership today will be to also see if we can use some of these funds to help schools that do not have any funding or aid. That will be one of our objectives this year”
Watawala Plantations, Montreal Consultants and Schokman & Samarawickrema Auctioners will be the side’s co-sponsors while EFL, Polydime International & Ceylon Cold Stores will be Trinity’s partners.
The highly anticipated Schools Rugby season of 2020 is expected to kick off on the 4th of March.
The 76th Bradby Shield will be held on the 30th of May and 13th of June 2020.
