Trials for Asian Netball Championship 2020 to be held tomorrow

Trials for the Asian Netball Championship 2020 are scheduled to be held tomorrow (8th) at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo. 

The existing pool of 35 will be brought down to 20 players at the trials by the selection panel headed by Padma Baddewela, which includes Sakunthala Wijethunga, Seetha Ramani, Thisangani Kodithuwakku, Vajira Pushpakumari. 

Sri Lanka will go into the 12th Asian Netball Championships in South Korea as defending champions, after defeating Singapore 69-50 at the final of the 2018 edition in Singapore.

The Sri Lanka Netball Federation also confirmed that those cut from the 20-member squad, will be drafted into an A team, which will functiona as a feeder to the national team. The squad will be coached by former National Captain and current coach of Hatton National Bank, Shashika Samarasinghe.

Samarasinghe is decorated national Netballer and has already seen success in the coaching arena as well, having led HNB to consecutive national titles.
