Sunday’s game was the one game that went to plan with the league runners-up Havelock Sports Club booking the final semifinal spot in the competition defeating Navy SC comprehensively. The Sailors’ nightmare in the 2018/19 season continued as last year’s runners-up in the Dialog Clifford Cup were forced to exit the tournament in the quarterfinal stage.
With Kandy Sports Club withdrawing from the tournament, Air Force were given a walkover into the semifinal stage.

Two exciting clashes await in the semifinals with Police Sports Club and Air Force playing the first encounter while Army and Havelock will clash in semifinal #2.
The Cops last made the Clifford Cup final in 2015 but lost out to Kandy Sports Club in Nittawela. They are definitely favourites to make it to the final that will be played on Sunday(24th).
With the likes of Sachith Silva and Janith Chandimal peaking at the right time, the Cops look well equipped for the semifinal.
After Havelock lost out their opportunity of winning the league title to Kandy a fortnight ago, here’s a perfect opportunity for the club from Colombo 5 to get themselves some long-awaited silverware.
However, the Soldiers should not be a team that should be taken lightly. After upsetting CH & FC in the quarters, coach Nihal ‘Viper’ Gunaratne’s team will be looking to provide stiff competition to Havelock SC on Thursday.
