At 26km between Jaffna town and Kodikamam, today was the longest day of walking yet. Despite the heat, the generosity and overwhelming love and support we received was incredible, and it was a privilege to hear people sharing their #TrailStories with us.

Today’s story came about when one of the Trail team members noticed an elderly man, Mr. Sri Rajkumar, taking initiative and walking into shops and buses in order to fill his till with donations for Trail. Upon speaking to him, we discovered that to him Trail is about giving something back and making a difference in at least one person’s life.

Rajkumar told us that his mother lost her battle to cancer while living in Canada. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to be with her during her last days and couldn’t make it to her funeral. “It should not happen to a person, a mother, or anybody.” He believes in Trail because he sees how it can make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer, by providing increased access to specialised care.

We salute you Mr. Rajkumar, thank you so much for sharing that heartfelt story with us. We are so sorry for your loss and hope that you find some strength through your Trail that is dedicated to your loving mother.
