The Top 32 qualifiers in the 130th Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship 2017, geared in to Match-play format and the Top 04 Seeds made their way in to the 2nd Round.
The mild upset of the day was when Nuwara Eliya local lad D G Jayasena defeated the 6th seeder Navinda Ranga, going down the 19th hole in the sudden death play-off. Jayasena 1 down coming to the 18th pulled off a vital birdie to square the match and force the match down the 19th.
Top ranker in the tournament Kartik Sharma (India), defeated Ishan Dilranga of the Sri Lanka Navy 4 & 2, to meet Pria Hemantha from Victoria Golf & Country Resort in the 2nd Round.
Bottom seed (No.2) N. Amarapadma brushed aside T Akash 7 & 5. Sisira Kumara 3rd Seed won his match 6 & 5, whilst the 4th Seeded Dhruv Sheoran from India had a comfortable 5 & 4 win over Selvakumar of Royal Colombo Golf Club.
2 rounds of exciting golf will be worked off tomorrow, 17th October with the 2nd Round and the Quarter-Final. The semi-finals and final showdown will follow on the 18th and 19th October respectively.
