Thurstan in command; Sajith and Vihan smash tons

Thurstan College took major honours against Nalanda College in the opening day of the traditional encounter which commenced today at Thurstan grounds.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first as they managed only 138 runs as right- arm fast bowler Charana Nanayakkara and left-arm spinner Naveen Gunawardana rattled the opposition with some quality bowling. In reply the Thurstanites were setting up a good platform for the second day as they finished the day at 154 for 6 wickets.

Mahanama College vs Wesley College

Shenal Dangalla’s terrific spell of bowling dismantled Mahanama College for 60 runs inside 16 overs in a group B game which began today at Campbell Park. The visitors were knocked out for 60, while the home team managed to score 153. All-rounder Dangalla top scored for the hosts with 37 runs.
