Thurstan College registered a 4-wicket win over Isipathana College in the 43rd Annual Limited Overs Encounter, played for the W. A. De Silva Memorial Challenge Trophy yesterday (06th March), at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.
Thurstan College Skipper Shanikya Deshapriya won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first. Isipathana College got off to an excellent start, putting on 59 runs for 1 wicket in the first powerplay phase.
However, Isipathana lost their way after such an impressive start, losing 4 quick wickets for 57 runs and being restricted to 116/5. Isipathana No. 3 batter Tharushka Ashel and No. 7 batter Themiya Nethmika gave some impetus to the innings, scoring 44 runs each as they finished with 203/9 in the allotted 50 overs.

Azeem Mohomad and Thanuga Palihawadana impressed with the ball for Thurstan College, snaring 2 wickets each.
The Thurstan top order clicked together to set a good platform in the run-chase with valuable contributions. The opening batter Thanuga Rajapaksa, Skipper Deshapriya and Thenuka Dewapriya chipped in with 30s at the top, setting the tone in the pursuit of 204 runs.
Vihas Thewmika, who came to bat at No. 5, carried the momentum in favor of Thurstan College, scoring 44 runs off 46 balls with 5 fours as they crossed over the line convincingly with 4 wickets in hand.
