In the second quarter final of the day, S. Thomas College managed to complete a hard fought win against a gritty St. Anthony’s College and advance in to semi final of the “Milo” under 18 ‘Fifteen a side’ rugby tournament. The game was played at the Science College grounds in Mount Lavinia.
St. Anthony’s College kicked off the game in Mount Lavinia and the Thomians started the better team as they continuously made way in to the Antonian 22 but failed to finish as they conceded many easy penalties at the break down for not holding their feet at the ruck.
As the game progressed the boys from Kandy managed to get a foot hold in the game as they too entered the Thomian 22 but they too made the cardinal error of not holding their feet at the ruck and conceded the easy penalty at the break down. As a result of this both teams went in to the half time break with the score board recording a nil-all score.
Half time: STC 00-00 SACK
The second half started just as the first as both teams entered each other’s 22 but neither managed to make the killer break and touchdown. As the score recorded nil-all with 15 minutes remaining in the game.
Although the game was heading in to a stalemate draw S. Thomas manages to construct a rolling maul in the 22 of the Kandy boys half and powered their way to the try line to open the score in the game through Priyan Deshapriya but Shenal De Silva failed to convert the try. STC 05-00 SACK.
S. Thomas’ College managed to extend their lead in the dying moments of the game as their winger S.R.S. Bopararachichi broke down the left wing and set up center Naveen Henakankanamge to score in the left corner. Scrum-half Shenda De Silva converted the the try to end the game 12-nil in favor of the school by the sea.

In the Bowl Quarter final Prince of Wales got the better out of Wesley College as Prince of Wales ran out 10-05 as deserved winners.
