Thomians take the final spot in the top four

S. Thomas’ College registered a comfortable 4 wicket victory over Nalanda College in their quarter final which was replayed today at Royal College Grounds. 

Nalanda College won the toss and elected to bat first. It was tough going for the double maroons as they kept loosing wickets right along. Dilmin Rathnayaka together with Shalin De Mel bowled brilliantly for the Thomians as they tightened the screws on the scoring. Few Nalandians got off to good starts. Lakshan Maydunne was the top scorer with 35 runs while Raveen De Silva and Jayod Caldera got starts and failed to capitalize. Nalanda College was ultimately cleaned up for a paltry 164.

The strong Thomian batting line up started off shaky but the experience of Maneesha Rupasinghe and Kishan Munasinghe got them closer to the target. Maneesha scored a sensible 36 while Munasinghe remained unbeaten on 37 to see off his team to victory. They got over the line in 44.2 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
