The Melbourne Renegades have signed Sri Lankan international all-rounder Thisara Perera for the remainder of BBL|06 as a replacement player for injured West Indian Dwayne Bravo.

Bravo underwent hamstring surgery this week and new signing Perera is expected to be contention to play in Saturday night’s Derby against the Melbourne Stars at Etihad Stadium.

The 27-year-old has played in T20 tournaments right across the globe and represented Sri Lanka at every level.

Melbourne Renegades Head Coach Andrew McDonald welcomed Perera’s inclusion.

“It’s obviously been a quick turnaround following Dwayne’s injury but we’re happy we’ve been able to secure someone of Thisara’s experience for the remainder of BBL|06.

“I’m looking forward to having him in the group and showing what he can do,” McDonald said.

The left-hand batsman and right-arm pace bowler has represented Sri Lanka in 54 T20 International matches and is expected to arrive in Melbourne on Friday.

Perera has played 189 career T20 games, scoring 2118 runs at a strike-rate of 140.63, with a highest score of 72, and taking 164 wickets.
