Sri Lanka’s former T20 captain Thisara Perera has decided to retire from International Cricket with immediate effect.
The all-rounder has handed a letter in this regard to the SLC this morning (03), which states his willingness to retire from International Cricket due to personal reasons.
Perera made his international debut in ODIs, at the age of twenty, in December 2009 and followed it with T20Is and Tests in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
In a career that spanned just over a decade, the hard-hitting all-rounder played 6 Tests, 166 ODIs and 84 T20Is for Sri Lanka with the latter being his specialization. He led the country in 9 T20Is including the famous first tour to Pakistan after the Lahore attack.
The SLC is yet to issue a statement on the matter.
