Lahiru Thirimanne has been named captain of the 15-man Sri Lanka Board President’s XI squad for the 50-over practice match against West Indies on 29th October at Colts grounds.
The selectors will keep a close eye on Thirimanne’s performance after he was dropped from the Test team for the second match. The left-hander made 30, 90 & 56 in his last three ODI appearances for Sri Lanka.
Discarded, Thisara Perera & Seekuge Prasanna has also been named to face the team from Caribbean Islands. Uncapped Danushka Gunathilake will open the batting with youngster Kusal Mendis. Off-spinning all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya and hard-hitting Chamara Kapugedara have also been named in the squad.
Two former left-arm seamers from D.S Senanayake College, Binura Fernando & Isuru Udana has also been named in the side. Danushka & Shehan are both part of the Sri Lanka ODI squad for the three-match series.
