Third ODI between Windies and England abandoned due to rain

The third ODI between Windies and England in Grenada was abandoned without a ball being bowled after sustained rainfall prevented any play at all.

The series was evenly poised at 1-1 going into the game with the Windies picking up an impressive win in the second ODI in Barbados by 26 runs. Although the players never got onto the field, the toss did take place before it became clear that the rain would scupper any chances of play. England, who had won the toss and elected to bowl, made two changes from the side that lost the second ODI.

Ben Stokes was rested for “precautionary reasons” and was replaced by the explosive right-handed batsman Alex Hales. Elsewhere, Chris Woakes was due to come into the side for Tom Curran.

The series continues at the same venue on Wednesday, 27th February.
