Setting the stage for the next generation of stars, ThePapare Basketball Championship was launched today for the second consecutive time at the press briefing held at Dialog Axiata PLC.
Initiated in 2016, ThePapare.com patterned with the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation to present the brand new experience of basketball to the country, ThePapare Basketball Championship. S. Thomas` College winning the trophy last year in the boys` category, Good Shepherd Convent – Kotahena won the girls` category.
In 2017, expanding more ThePapare Basketball Championship will feature a number of twenty boys` schools while eight girls` schools will compete towards supremacy. The boys` tournament will operate in four groups while the girls` tournament will operate in two groups.
The matches for girls` will commence on the 2nd of September while the boys` matches will commence on the 5th of September. Continuing to give maximum exposure for the schools, ThePapare.com will live stream all the matches exclusively on ThePapare.com, Dialog Now (Channel 01) and MyTV.
For the 2017 edition of ThePapare Basketball Championship will connect schools from Jaffna and Kandy giving the participating schools the best basketball experience in the country.
The group stage matches for girls` category will be played at Good Shepherd Convent and Gateway College – Rajagariya. Group stage matches of the boys` category will be played at Ananda College, S. Thomas` College, Gateway College – Rajagirya and St. Joseph’s College – Colombo 10. President of the
