Isipathana clinched the 2014 singer league as we witnessed some enthralling rugby in the final week of schools rugby. Let’s take a look at the talented youngsters who made the final week as exciting as it was.

Sudam Sooriarachi (Isipathana)

Sudam has been one of the leading try scorers for Isipathana and over the weekend game he scored two tries to take the game away from Kingswood. Sudam was in the thick of things as he displayed brilliant support play. Sudam was electrifying and so quick in releasing the ball to Isuru Kongahawatte. The fly half did the scrum half duties exceptionally well. His decision making was remarkable on the field. He maintains a very good defensive record and he played a vital role in their victory. 

Imthisham Jaleel (Kingswood)

Leading try scorer for Kingswood Jaleel was a threat to any team; the lad has light feet and electrifying pace at the wing. Although he could not score a try he played remarkably well over the weekend. He stepped and fended Isipathana defenders and made some good yardage with ball in hand despite not being able to score.

Kevin Dixon (St. Peters)

With a tally of 11 tries under his name Dixon remains the leading try scorer in the league. This youngster has been sensational and has maintained an average of at least a try per match which is a remarkable feat for a school boy rugby player. Once again over the weekend he displayed his potential and showed his character against Trinity.

Tarinda Ratwatte (Trinity)

Scored 14 points against St. Peters and Ratwatte and is the highest point’s scorer with a tally of 113 to his name. He marshaled his boys well throughout the season; his individual calm and composed approach to the game was an example to many who play the game at any level. His visionary ability helped him to control the game and call the shots.

Supun Warnakulasuriya (Royal)

Hat-trick hero Warnakulasuriya played a gem of a game against Science College. His pace and power is a key strength and he was also instrumental in the maul. With his three tries he has scored 10 tries this season ending his season on a high note.

Vishmitha Peiris (St. Joseph)

Josephian skipper finally has a victory to rejoice at the end of the season. He played a captain’s game Saturday when they registered a big win against SThomas. He showed his strength and power with two very good tries to his name.
