Without Borders Sri Lanka (WBSL) is a grass root initiative that was recently established in June 2014 by a group of passionate young individuals who aimed at building sustainable community driven development models Island wide.

They were recently awarded the “Global Trailblazers” award by the Harvard Social Innovation Collaborative.

Within every one of us is a hidden spark to teach and inspire. Today for hundreds of children in Sri Lanka their goals and ambitions remain just a dream simply due to the lack of teachers. Many people surrender to the idea of teaching children simply because they feel “ unqualified “ to teach kids. Without Boarders Sri Lanka along with our partners have decided to give the public a 1st hand experience of the simply joy of teaching.

The Colombo Classroom: “Will you be our teacher?” – Is an event organized by Without Boarders Sri Lanka in partnership with Youth Services America (YSA) for the Global Youth Services Day (GYSD) 2015.

This Sunday (19th of April) the Crescat Boulevard will be converted into a class room of 40 beautiful children with nothing but an eager heart to learn. But the class will lack someone very important, A Teacher.

A group of hopeful children will be waiting in their classroom with books, pencils and an eager heart to learn from their new volunteer teachers…YOU!! They are ready to learn anything you can teach them, be it dancing, singing, arts and craft or even a few good jokes….  We invite you to #BeTheirTeacher.

So let that hidden teacher within each individual be ignited by our wonderful kids on the 19th. Be there and you will be amazed to find that spark to inspire and transform others was not hidden too deep.
