The 15th Annual Sri Lanka Schools All Island Age Group Novices Aquatic Championships 2023 will be held from 23rd- 26th February 2023 at Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
The Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association organizes the novices aquatic championships with the primary objective of introducing a competitive environment to novice swimmers. Qualifying novices is the foundation achievement of beginner swimmers. After that, swimmers will get exposure to further advanced championships organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association and Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union.
2165 youngsters from 171 schools around Sri Lanka will participate in this year’s novices swimming championships. The competition is held under six age groups under 10, under 12, under 14, under 16, under 18, and 20.
The meet is scheduled to run as follows,
23rd February – Under 10,12,18,20 Girls
24th February – Under 14 and 16 Girls, Under 18 and 20 Boys
25th February – Under 10 and 16 Boys
26th February – Under 12 and 14 Boys
All swimmers who make the top 8 positions in each event will qualify under for the All Island Age Group Novices Aquatic Championships.
The current champions of Schools Novices are Bishop’s College and St. Thomas’ College.
In addition, the novices diving championships, initially scheduled for 25th February at Sugathadasa, have been postponed to the following week and will be at the St. Joseph’s College swimming pool.
