Super Sun SC has acquired the services of Chathura Gunarathne, Thilina Bandara and Nagoor Meera further strengthening the squad.

Super Sun finished mid-table last season behind stronger and well established oppositions in Army, Solid, Negombo Youth, Navy, Blue Star, Air Force and Colombo FC with seven wins, seven draws and four losses.

Former Sri Lanka captain Thilina Bandara joined the Beruwala based club from last year’s Champions, Solid SC while former Sri Lanka caps Chathura Gunarathne and Nagoor Meera signed from Up-Country Lions.

All three high profile moves has made Super Sun SC’s motives clear for this season, as they will be a force to reckon with. Bandara will strengthen the defense with Meera and Chathura adding composure and control to the midfield. All three of them will bring in experience as well as leadership to a young squad. Super Sun has also signed the powerful African forward Victor Okere from Matara City giving the forward line that extra edge.

Super Sun management have also parted ways with former Ratnam coach Mohamed Noordeen who has since joined Police SC. Former Java Lane assistant coach Augustin George has replaced Noordeen as coach of Super Sun while the Sri Lankan legend Nizam Packeer Ali will work with the team as a technical consultant. Packeer Ali’s involvement in the technical aspect and his international experience will immensely boost the squad.

“Additions of Bandara, Podi(Chathura) and Meera is a strength to us. They have a lot of experience among them, having played for club and country. Hope they can come good this season and we are already planning big for this season,” newly appointed coach Augustin George told ThePapare.com.
