The 3rd Quarterfinal of the Singer Under 15 Division I Tournament between St Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya & St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa was worked off at Bandaragama.
The Peterites carried their impressive form with the ball from the pre-quarter final against Nalanda College once again as the Sebastianite batsmen were in a spot of bother at 65 for the loss of 3 in the 32nd over. Deciding to bat first was a tough ask given the remarkable credentials of the Peterite bowlers.

Sebastianite batsmen Sandesh Fernando was able to make sure the boys from Moratuwa put on a decent show as he carried the weight of his team at 115 for the loss of 4 wickets in the 53rd over. Fernando was dismissed for a fighting knock of 41.
St. Sebastian’s College took on a defensive approach after losing wickets early in the game. Yasan Avishka’s patient innings helped the Sebastianite cause scoring a very important 50 to keep his team in the game. The Peterite bowlers seemed quite frustrated with Yasan Avishka’s batting efforts as he took St Sebastian’s College past the two hundred run mark. The Peterites had bowled 95 overs in the day and were still unable to break through the Sebastianite resistance. St Sebastian’s College eventually declared after dismissal of Yasan Avishka for 73 at 227 for the loss of 7 wickets. For the Peterites Nimuth Gunawardena & Ovindu Perera picked up 2 wickets each.

St. Peter’s were off to a horrid start losing 3 wickets within the first three overs for 24 runs. The well-rested Sebastianite bowlers were prolific with the ball as they ripped Peterite batting with Chrishen Perera picking up four important wickets. Yasan Avishka continued his impressive match performance to pick up two wickets. Thanks to some spirited batting by the Peterite tail-enders the umpires called the day’s play with St Peter’s College at 64 for 7.
