The U 19 cricket encounter between St Sylvester College and St. Sebastian’s College ended yesterday at the St Sebastian grounds.
Sylvesters in their first innings were bundled out for a score of 86 all out in 54.5 overs. Harthamal Perera contributed 20 runs. Anushka Perera wrecked the opposition taking 5 wickets and giving away just 36 runs.
Avishka Fernando scored a stylish 100 in 113 balls belting 7 fours and two sixers while Gayan Silva thrashed 106 runs in 104 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixers in a glorious partnership of 217 runs for the first wicket leading the Sebastians to declare for 221 for one.
In the second innings, Sylvesters were up to the task amassing a total of 148 runs for a loss of 2 players in 77 overs when the game ended. Captain Indunil Samarananda showed his colours by scoring an unbeaten 66 runs while Hansamal Perera 37 and Mohommed Rifaz scored 31 held together at the end when bad light stopped play.
