St. Peter’s to retain Under 16 ten’s title?

Will St. Peter’s College manage to retain their Division I Inter Schools’ Under 16 10-A- Side Rugby title this weekend?

The Division I Inter Schools’ Under 16 10-A- Side Rugby tournament is scheduled to take place on the 19th and 20th in Kandy Bogambara and Pallekale stadiums.

The tournament consists of 33 teams divided into 8 groups. Group A will be the only group with 5 teams while the other 28 teams will be divided equally amongst 7 groups.

Teams from group A to D will play their group games at Bogambara grounds while group games for teams from group E to H will play their matches in Pallekale. The knockout phase of the tournament (day 2) will be played at Pallekale.

Last year's winner St. Peter’s will be aiming to repeat their feat while runners up Royal will be aiming to go one better.

However things will not be easy, with all the other schools coming into the tournament with
intentions of grabbing silverware as the school rugby nears it’s end.

Kingswood College are the defending Plate champions while Ananda College won the Shield in 2016 and St. Joseph’s College Bowl champions

This tournament will be played in the 10’s format, a change from the ongoing under 16 15-a- side league tournament and teams who are able to change from format to format will be tipped to go all the way.

Defending champions St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya will line up in group A while Trinity
College will play their group games at Pallekale (Home).
