Moratuwa is famous for its Furniture, Baila and Cricket. Matthias Super League (MSL) is an 11 a Side soft Ball cricket tournament, organized by the Youth Fellowship of St. Matthias’ Church Laxapathiya to commemorate the 50th Anniversary celebrations.
St. Matthias Youth Fellowship has been started in year 1968 and has been a highly active in conducting and attending to major social responsibilities and spread the Word of God to communities in Sri Lanka with a big heart by contributing towards the society.
The Tournament will be played on the 21st of July at the Ratmalana Irrigation Grounds with the participation of 8 youth Fellowship teams from 8 Anglican Churches playing for the Matthias Challenge Trophy. A CSR activity too planned to carry out in the morning during the opening ceremony of the tournament and the matches will be kicked off at 9.00 am onwards. 11 a Side teams will comprise of 8 Boys and 3 girls from ages 16 to 35 years. Each match will have 8 overs which has to be bowled by 7 Boys and 1 girl in the team. The matches in the first round will be played under 2 groups and the 8 youth teams are as follows. An Exhibition match will be played as the first match of the tournament as in MSL Team against the Team from Deaf School, Ratmalana. MSL team will comprise of all the captains of the 8 teams.
We have planned to carry out Fun Activities, Games for Kids and Families, Food Stalls and DJ Entertainment throughout the day to keep the Crowd entertained.
MSL 2018 will be very exciting as each team has got very talented players who have represented school level or above. 8 youth teams playing for Matthias Challenge Trophy. We warmly welcome all of you to witness and Cheer your youth Team to be Champions in the Matthias Super League 2018.
