Sri Lanka Cricket recently conducted an awareness program at St. Mary’s Balika Maha Vidyalaya in Colombo, aiming to attract its students to play cricket.
This program was conducted following an invitation extended by the school’s principal, Mrs. Premila Perera.
During the awareness program, it was revealed by the school authorities that a large group of students from the school are interested in taking up the game.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka Cricket promised to make a coach available two days per week and also donated a cricket bag with practice equipment to kick start a cricket program at the school.
During the discussion, the school authorities showed interest in placing teams to play in the school tournaments organized, covering the age groups of U15, U17, and U19.
Mrs. Apsari Tillakaratne, Convener of Women’s Cricket at Sri Lanka Cricket, Mr. Kamal Dharmasiri, Head of the National Development Center of the SLC, Mr. Maurice Dela De Zilwa, the Schools Cricket Coordinator of the SLC, and Mr. Nisansala Mendis, the coach of the Colombo District, were among the participants.
