St. Joseph Vaz’s College ended their long wait for an outright victory as paceman Roshen Fernando bagged ten wickets for them to beat Anuradhapura Central by an innings and 93 runs in their Under-19 match at Wennappuwa on Friday.

Mahel carries bat through to defy Thurstan

Skipper and open bat Mahel Jayalath carried the bat through with a 264-ball 34 runs for St. Benedict’s to avoid a probable defeat as they posted 113 for seven wickets at close after being 56 for seven at one stage in the second innings in their match against Thurstan at Thurstan Ground on Friday. Ben’s commenced their second essay with a deficit of 135 runs.
