A group ‘A’ fixture between St. Joseph’s College, Colombo and Maris Stella College, Negombo commenced today (12th October) at Darley Road, Maradana.
After winning the toss, Maris Stella decided to put runs on board first against a quality Josephian attack. Abiding by their standards, St. Joseph’s bowlers made life hard at the crease for Maris Stella batsmen as the visitors managed only 182 runs in 49.3 overs. Kevin Perera starred for Maris Stella with the bat with his 44 while left-arm spinner Shalinda Senevirathne bagged 5 wickets.

The boys from Maris Stella fought their way back very strongly by bowling out the host for an eyebrow-raising 82 runs. Ravindu Fernando bagged a fifer leaving the Josepians completely at sea.
But, the batting woes did not seem to be over yet for Maris Stella as they were struggling at 23 for 4 in their second innings at close of play.
