St. Aloysius’ College, Galle held on to a first innings win over Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda in their Singer-cup group C game which ended in a draw at Karandeniya MMV grounds today.
The visitors resuming the second day on 115 for 4 wickets were bundled out for 202 in 66 overs in reply to 213. Right-handed Dinuka Dilshan stroked an unbeaten 89 runs and Harshajith Roshan chipped in with 62 valuable runs as the Sokians missed out on a 1st innings win.
St. Aloysius’ batting second were dismissed for 165 in 47 overs, Sri Lankan U19 all-rounder Ravindu Sanjana top scored with a half-ton while Lasith Kumara, Ushan Imantha and Nimesh Mendis claimed 3 wickets apiece for the hosts.
Chasing a victory target of 177, the Sokians got a flying start but it was not enough for them to record an outright win. Ravindu Rashantha made a brisk 40, while right-arm off spinner Ravindu Sanjana bagged a 3-wicket haul.

St. Sylvester’s College vs Moratu Vidyalaya
St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy dominated the first day of their Singer-cup group C game against Moratu Vidyalaya which began today in Moratuwa.
The visitors won the toss and invited the hosts to have a bat. The lads from Moratuwa were bundled out for a paltry 88 runs in 35.5 overs. Dulakshana Pieris made an unbeaten 24, while left-arm spinner Thusith De Zoysa grabbed 4 for 25 and was ably supported by Kanishka Jayasekara who picked up 3 scalps.
In reply, the visitors finished the day on a strong note on 133 for 4 in 57 overs as Kavindu Perera and Shashika Raymond scored 40s, while Shehada Soysa claimed 3 wickets for the hosts.
Match will continue tomorrow for day two.

Mahinda College vs Maliyadeva College
Maliyadeva College, Kurunagala are placed slightly ahead over Mahinda College, Galle in their bowler-dominated Singer-cup traditional game on day one at Maliyadeva grounds.
The Devans skipper opted to field first as Mahinda College was dismissed for 82 runs inside 42 overs. The Mahinda batsmen never got their act going as, off-spinner Dinanjaya Premarathna , left-arm spinner Kaveen Bandara and seamer Manelka Dharmadasa shared 9 wickets equally for the hosts.
In reply, the hosts too struggled but managed to go ahead in the 1st innings as they were bowled out for 88 in 33.overs. Right-arm off spinner Kavindu Ediriweera bagged 4 wickets for the visitors.
The visitors were 24 for 1 at close of play as 21 wickets fell on the opening day.
