Tamil Union vs Bloomfield

Bloomfield’s resistance in the second innings saw them salvaging a draw against Tamil Union today at Bloomfield grounds. Tamil Union started off today with a lead of 199 runs and they went on to add 120 more which gave the home side a target of 320 to get in 65 overs. Tharanga Paranavithane and Chamika Karunaratne chipped in with valuable cameos for the visitors while Malith De Silva bagged 4 wickets for the home side. In reply, Bloomfield showed grit and fought through the day to finish at 172 for 4 at stumps on day 3. Nipun Karunanayake top scored with 62 and Lahiru Jayakody scored a patient 53 at no 3.

Early on, Tamil Union posted 314 for their first innings with half centuries from Tharanga Paranavithane and Manoj Sarathchandra. In reply Bloomfield were bowled out for 115 runs with Ramith Rabukwella taking 4 wickets for the visitors.

Prabath Jayasuriya and Sadeera Samarawickrama stood out for Colts in their drawn encounter against BRC at BRC grounds. The home side resumed play with 141 runs on board for the loss of 5 wickets. Hashen Ramanayake scored 61 runs to help the home side post 249 all out for their first innings. Prabath Jayasuriya bagged 6 for 74 for the visitors. NCC vs Galle CC

Group A clash between NCC and Galle CC ended in a tame draw today at NCC grounds. Galle resumed play with 162 on board for the loss of 7 wickets. Chathuranga De Silva struck twice and Farveez Maharoof took the remaining wicket to clean up the visitors for just 170 runs. Chathuranga ended with 6 for 67 while Maharoof and Mubarak bagged 2 wickets each.

NCC batted the rest of the day and posted 330 all out for their second innings with half centuries from Chathuranga De Silva and Angelo Perera. They scored 86 and 81 respectively. With the ball, Roshan Jayatissa bagged a 5-for to add to his 4 wickets in the first innings.

Ragama CC vs CCC

Group B clash between Ragama and CC ended in a tame draw due to bad weather. Ragama resumed play at 209 for 3 in their first innings. Roshen Silva and Lahiru Thirimanne added 96 runs for the fourth wicket. Thirimanne scored 66 of 176 balls while Roshen scored 45 in 103 balls. After the fourth wicket partnership, Ragama lost 4 wickets for just 33 runs but a century stand for the 9th wicket between Amila Aponso and Sameera De Zoysa saw them posting 406 for 9. Sameera was dismissed for a well-made 94 off 156 balls. With the ball, Lahiru Gamage bagged a five-for while Lakshan Sandakan took 3 wickets.

In reply, CCC were 232 for 4 at stumps on Day 3. The opening pair put up 181 runs with Dilshan Munaweera scoring a run-a-ball 93 and Ron Chandraguptha scoring a brisk 76 runs. Amila Aponso bagged 3 wickets for Ragama.

Saracens SC vs Moors SC

This group B clash ended in a draw today at Moors grounds. Moors resumed play on 175 for 8 in their first innings. A counter attacking innings by Thilina Thushara helped the home side reach 256 all out for their first innings.

Thushara scored 60 runs in just 69 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours. In reply the visitors’ posted 296 all out with half centuries from Irosh Samarasooriya, Sangeeth Cooray and Milinda Siriwardane. The star of the last day was right-arm leg spinner Sachithra Perera who bagged 7 wickets for 92 runs for the home side. The former Anandian ended up with match figures of 10 for 151.

Early on, Saracens posted 292 all out thanks to half centuries from Milinda Siriwardane and Irosh Samarasuriya.

SSC vs Badureliya SC

SSC pulled off a thrilling 10 wicket victory over Badureliya today at SSC grounds. The visitors resumed play on 32 for no loss in their second innings. Sachithra Senanayke and Kasun Madushanka bowled splendidly to take 7 wickets in a space of 13 overs conceding only 34 runs. Badureliya was in deep trouble at 66 for 7 when Saliya Saman came on to the crease and took on the SSC bowlers.

He absolutely dominated the bowling scoring more than a run-a-ball in his innings. Saman put a 110 run partnership with Alankara Asanka Silva which ended in an unfortunate run out. Saman was the last wicket to fall for well-made 129 off just 119 balls with 13 sixes and 6 fours. With the ball Sachithra Senanayake took 4 for 76 while Kasun Madushanka took 3 for 59.

With a target of just 34 runs to get, SSC got over the line in just 5.2 overs with all the wickets intact.

Early on, SSC posted 347 all out with half centuries from Charith Asalanka, Sammu Ashan, Sachithra Senanayake and Kosala Kulasekara. Captain Asanka Silva took a 6-for for the visitors.
